Chase Covers

The chase cover is the metal cover that covers the top of the wooden chase, inside which the prefab fireplace is installed. It's job is to prevent water from penetrating into the wood structure and causing damage to the ceilings and house. That's why it's important when you have a chase cover installed, that it has the proper drainage slope for water runoff and that all nail holes and screw holes are sealed to prevent water from getting into the chase.

The chase cover has a drip ring that surrounds the chimney pipes preventing water from running into the chimney structure. The edge of the chimney chase hangs over the side of the chase 2-4 inches to prevent wind driven rain from penetrating into the chase.
